Snyder Cancels Mid-East Trade Trip Because of Flint Water Crisis

MPRN

(MPRN-Lansing) Governor Rick Snyder has cancelled plans to make a business development trip to the Middle East so he can remain in Michigan and focus on the Flint water crisis.

The trade trip to Israel, Quatar, and other Middle East countries had been in the works for months to build better relationships with defense, and water technology companies.

The governor was also going to speak at a cyber-security conference in Tel Aviv. But the trip was scrubbed due to the water crisis in Flint.

The public health emergency has built in recent months as the state’s role in causing the lead contamination has become more apparent.

The governor just requested more federal Medicaid assistance to help people 21 years and younger with the potential effects of being exposed to lead.
