Governor Rick Snyder is downplaying the possibility of taking a cabinet position if a Republican wins the White House next year.
In a year-end interview for Michigan Public Television, the governor says he has a responsibility to the citizens of Michigan.
Snyder also said he would not take another job as a strategic move to allow Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley to become governor and improve his chances of winning election in 2018.
The GongwerNews Service reports that while Calley has not announced plans to run for governor, it’s widely anticipated. Snyder says being governor is too important to orchestrate such a political maneuver.
