Governor Rick Snyder struck an optimistic tone about his administration’s efforts to address the Flint water crisis and other issues at a business conference on Mackinac Island.

The governor said he’s combating a strain of pessimism in the wake of the Flint water crisis and the looming fiscal collapse of the Detroit Public Schools.

Snyder said he’s not concerned with low polling numbers, and has plenty of things he plans to get done in his last two years in office.

“The reports of my demise are well overblown.”

The governor says the media can make things seem worse than they are, and that talking to reporters can actually be like talking to the morose Winnie the Pooh character Eeyore.
