Public input is sought for possible city charter changes in Battle Creek. A spending bills approved by the U.S. House includes money for Great Lakes programs. The K-Wings win their third straight. 

A blue ribbon committee considering changes to how Battle Creek conducts its city elections is seeking public comment. A news release from the city says an online survey is available. The committee is considering whether terms on the city commission should be longer and/or staggered, changing how the mayor and vice mayor are selected among other changes. The committee's next meeting is April 11th.

Funding for Great Lakes programs is included in the budget bill approved by the U.S. House on Thursday.(WCMU). West Michigan Congressman Fred Upton issued a statement saying the bill includes many wins for Southwest Michigan.

In hockey, Kalamazoo has won three straight after a 5-3 victory over Wichita Thursday night. The K-Wings play at Toledo on Sunday.
