Portage’s Mayor Pro-Tem Nasim Ansari says he will run for Mayor this fall, rather than seek another four year term on the city council. Ansari had announced plans to run for re-election to his council seat. But since then Peter Starzdas announced in May that he will not run for another two-year term as Portage Mayor. City Councilwoman Patricia Randall has also launched a campaign for mayor. (Kalamazoo Gazette)
Upgrades to Kalamazoo’s downtown parking facilities this summer will mean several changes, among them drivers won’t be able to pay with cash when leaving a parking structure. Central Parking Services will begin work on city parking ramps in August. (Kalamazoo Gazette)
