Reports of Kellogg layoffs in Minnesota. West Michigan Congressional representatives react to FBI director James Comey's firing. WMU starts off the MAC softball tournament with a win over rival Central Michigan. 

Kellogg plans to lay off more than 200 workers in the St. Paul-Minneapolis area. It's part of a cost cutting initiative that the Battle Creek-based cereal maker announced in February. (Minneapolis Star-Tribune)

West Michigan Congressman Justin Amash is calling for an independent commission to investigate ties between Russia and members of the Trump Administration. Amash put the comment on Twitter after FBI Director James Comey was fired Tuesday. St. Joseph Republican Congressman Fred Upton says an independent replacement is needed at the FBI to restore confidence in the agency. (MLive)

Western Michigan University started the Mid-American Conference Softball Tournament with an upset win over top-seeded Central Michigan. The eighth-seeded Broncos beat the Chippewas 3-1 on Wednesday. Western will face Kent State Thursday afternoon. (WMU Athletics
