Michigan's U.S. Senators propose new pipeline safety legislation. A student group seeks a court injunction over free speech at Kellogg Community College. WMU gets an extra inning win to start the MAC baseball tournament. 

Michigan's two United States Senators are pushing pipeline legislation that could result in the closing of a controversial pipeline that runs through the Straits of Mackinac. Democrats Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters want to expand the emergency authority of the U.S. Transportation Secretary to shut down pipelines for safety reasons. (Detroit News

The CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation plans to step down at the end of June. Governor Rick Snyder has recommended the MEDC's Chief Business Development Officer Jennifer Nelson to replace Steve Arwood. The final decision will be made by the agency's executive committee. (MLive)

A group suing Kellogg Community College over free speech on campus is seeking a court injunction. The group Young Americans for Liberty wants a court to order the college to stop requiring permits to solicit on KCC property. The college says it does not deny free speech, but does require groups to get a permit and solicit inside the student center. (Battle Creek Enquirer

Western Michigan beat Eastern Michigan 6-5 in 10 innings to open defense of their Mid-American Conference Tournament championship. The Broncos face Central Michigan in the winners bracket of the MAC baseball tournament Thursday afternoon in Avon, Ohio. (WMU Athletics, Mid-American Conference)
