The car that hit a Kalamazoo Metro Transit bus in May was going more than 100 miles an hour and didn't hit the brakes. Stryker is buying a Canadian company for $700-milion. Injured State Representative Dave Maturen could return to the state Capitol this week. 

A car that smashed into a Kalamazoo Metro Transit Bus last month was traveling more than 100 miles per hour at the time of the accident. Public Safety officials say crash data shows that the driver never used the car's brakes before colliding with the bus on May 24th. (Kalamazoo Gazette

Stryker is buying a Canadian maker of imaging technology used by surgeons. The purchase of NOVADAQ for just over $700-million is still subject to shareholder approval. Styker is looking to close the transaction by the end of the third quarter. (MiBiz

State Representative Dave Maturen should be released from a rehabilitation facility this week. Maturen underwent knee surgery after he was injured in a single car accident on June 9th. The Vicksburg Republican will return to the state Capitol once doctors give their approval. (Battle Creek Enquirer

Governor Rick Snyder and Republican legislative leaders have signed target agreements for the state budget. The $10.2-billion spending plan expected to be sent to the governor for his signature by the end of the week. (Gongwer News Service - subscription)
