Governor Rick Snyder has lowered flags across the state lowered to half-staff on Wednesday to honor Comstock Township Fire Edward Switalski. Switalski was killed last week when he was struck by a car while on duty at the scence of an accident. Switalski's funeral is being held Wednesday. (Kalamazoo Gazette

The Michigan Court of Appeals is being asked to block some of accused shooter Jason Dalton's statements from being admitted at his trial. Dalton is accused of killing six people and injuring two others during a shooting rampage at three different locations around Kalamazoo in February of 2016. He was driving for Uber at the time. Dalton's trial has been delayed while the admissibility of his statements to police is decided. (Kalamazoo Gazette
