(MPRN-Lansing) The state starts accepting applications Friday for medical marijuana licenses.
The licenses will go to people who want to grow, process, transport or distribute marijuana to patients who have medical marijuana cards.
David Harns is with the Michigan medical marijuana board, which will issue the licenses. He says, right now, the state has no idea how many medical marijuana dispensaries there are in Michigan.
“We’ll be able to tell not only where the provisioning centers are, but we’ll be able to track marijuana from seed all the way to sale and be able to tell where it’s at in the process.”
License-seekers will have to pass a background check, and show they have finances and a business plan. Harns says the board expects to issue the first licenses in April.
