Stulberg Silver Medalist Emma Meinrenken Preps For Solo Appearance With WMU Orch

Emma Meinrenken, who was awarded the silver medal in the 2014 Stulberg International String Competition last May, arrived in Kalamazoo yesterday after a long drive from her home in Toronto, Ontario with her mother, Nozomi Meinrenken. 

In an interview Friday morning, Emma and the conductor of the Western Michigan University Symphony Orchestra, Bruce Uchimura, talk over the the program for Sunday's concert, and discuss the balance between honoring the composer's intentions and creating a unique interpretation of one's own.
