The Upjohn Institute for Employment Research is predicting employment growth of more than 2% in West Michigan this year and next.
The institute’s Business Outlook for West Michigan forecasts 2.5% growth for this year and 2.1% in 2016. Senior Regional Analyst George Erickcek says that would be slightly less than the actual job growth in 2014. Erickcek says one troubling sign is economic conditions around the world, which he says could limit export growth.
