The Gilmore's Rising Stars Series opened on September 27th with a concert featuring Chinese pianist Fei Fei Dong.

Her achievements in last few years are impressive. In 2014, she graduated from the Juilliard School, where she studied with Yoheved Kaplinsky. The same year, she won the top prize of theConcert Artist Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition. In 2013, she was one of the six finalists in the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

In this interview, Ms. Dong says a bike injury to her wrist a few years ago forced her to acknowledge on her essentially musical nature. To know her is to hear her play, she says. Looking back on her years at Juilliard, she also says she learned as much from her fellow students as she did from her professors.

The Gilmore Rising Stars Series continues on November 1st, 2015. The featured artist is French pianist David Kadouch.
