On WestSouthwest, members of Western Michigan University's Climate Change Work Group join us just ahead of Earth Day. And the latest report on child well being in Michigan from the Michigan League for Public Policy. 

The Trump administration has proposed large cuts to the Environmental Protection Agency's budget, and according to reports, considering closing the EPA Region 5 office that includes Michigan. Members of the Climate Change Work Group at Western Michigan University say those are among several troubling signs for the environment as Earth Day approaches. 

The latest Kids Count in Michigan report show an increase in children living in poverty. It also shows higher rates of poverty for minorities and kids in rural areas. Alicia Guevara Warren, Kids Count Project Director for the Michigan League for Public Policy takes us through the numbers.
