On WestSouthwest, what are the rules for questioning a criminal suspect? And the debate over Michigan's budget with the backdrop of next year's campaign for governor.

A Kalamazoo County Circuit Court Judge ruled last week that some statements made by the man accused in last year's mass shooting can be entered into evidence at his trial. But part of the questioning of Jason Dalton will be suppressed. Western Michigan University Cooley Law School Professor Tonya Krause-Phelan explains the rules for questioning suspects and what makes it into trial.

Republican lawmakers in Lansing have been cutting away at Governor Rick Snyder's proposed budget. But Michigan Public Radio Network Capitol Bureau Chief Rick Pluta says there are different ideas about what to do with that money. Pluta also tells us how next year's campaign for governor (now in the "silent" phase) is getting underway.
