WMU Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine

On this edition of WestSouthwest we hear about Western Michigan University's new medical school and the hurdles in the way of many adults trying to go back for more education or training.

Western Michigan University's Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine is a reality with the first students now at the downtown campus. Founding Dean Hal Jenson talks with WMUK's Gordon Evans about getting the medical school started, and its future potential.

The Michigan League for Public Policy has released a report on the lack of financial aid available for adults who want to go back to school. The League's CEO Gilda Jacobs says helping adults afford additional education and training would help Michigan's economy.

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
