On this edition of WestSouthwest, political analysis and restoring the Great Lakes. 

The Labor Day weekend is often called the unofficial start of the fall election campaign. Western Michigan University Political Science Professors Peter Wielhouwer and John Clark discuss the political climate in Southwest Michigan and beyond. 

Earlier this month, we heard from commentator Gary Wilson about Great Lakes restoration. He had written a piece for Great Lakes Echo, which called for more focus on a couple of major issues. The Campaign Director of Healing Our Waters-Great Lakes Coalition, Todd Ambs wrote his own essay for Great Lakes Echo saying that significant progress has been made on restoring the Great Lakes. 

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
