WestSouthwest August 4, 2014

Western Michigan University

On this edition of WestSouthwest, teams from Western Michigan University look for savings in Detroit city operations. And thoughts on Great Lakes restoration.

Ken Jones, instructor of integrated supply in Western Michigan University's Haworth College of Business and recent graduate Hanna Down were part of teams studying Detroit's transportation facilities. They spoke with WMUK's Gordon Evans about their work, and what they found in Detroit.

And commentator Gary Wilson  thinks that Great Lakes restoration efforts are "a mile wide and an inch deep." He discusses his recent essay for Great Lakes Echo, and explains why it might be better to focus on a smaller number of issues.

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
