On WestSouthwest, a look at the economics and energy implications of closing the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant earlier than planned. And the Director of the Michigan Campaign Finance Network tells us why he's concerned about proposed changes to the state's campaign finance rules.

The owner of the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant said on December 8th that the plant will close in October of 2018. Entergy's announcement moved up the timeline for the plant's closure by about four years. Midwest Energy News reporter Andy Balaskovitz discusses the economic pressures on nuclear power plants, and what the closure could mean for Michigan's energy supply.

Michigan Campaign Finance Network Director Craig Mauger says proposed changes to the Michigan Campaign Finance Act would "blur the lines" of what qualifies as an independent committee. The bill has passed the state Senate, and is before the House. Mauger warns the changes go beyond the Supreme Court's "Citizen's United" decision.
