On WestSouthwest, how Early/Middle College can help students get an Associate's Degree with an extra year of high school. And new concerns about pipeline safety in Michigan.

Students at all nine school districts in Kalamazoo County will soon be able to take advantage of the Early/Middle College program. It allows them to earn an Associate's Degree or make progress toward a Bachelor's Degree with an extra year of high school. The Dean of Health and Sciences at Kalamazoo Valley Community College Jim Taylor and The Executive Director of Education for Employment at the Kalamazoo Regional Educational Services Agency tells us how it will work.

A small leak in the Straits of Mackinac has raised new questions about pipeline safety. The "pinhole sized" leak in a pipeline owned by Enbridge Energy was revealed last week. A rupture in a pipeline owned by Enbirdge near Marshall in 2010 caused a massive oil spill on the Kalamazoo River. Anne Wiowode of the Michigan Chapter of the Sierra Club says the latest leak shows the risk of pipeline safety in Michigan.
