On WestSouthwest, Kalamazoo State Representative Jon Hoadley says the Legislature should be using its investigations to hold Michigan State University accountable. And the director of a documentary on suicide discusses her film being shown by Western Michigan University in February.
Kalamazoo State Representative Jon Hoadley is the ranking Democrat on the House Appropriations subcommittee on higher education. It's one of two committees that has requested documents from Michigan State University pertaining to the scandal involving former sports doctor Larry Nasser. Hoadley tells WMUK's Godon Evans that the governing boards of Michigan State, Wayne State and the University of Michigan should still be elected statewide. But he says impeaching members of MSU's board should be "on the table."
The documentary The 'S' Word is being shown at Western Michigan University on February 7th. The film's director Lisa Klein lost her father and brother to suicide. Her documentary tells the story of suicide survivors finding hope. Klein spoke with WMUK's Earlene McMichael.
