On this edition of WestSouthwest, a couple waiting to find out if their marriage will be recognized in Michigan. And the Michigan Department of Transportation plans a safety audit on a long stretch of I-94. 

Karen Sanborn and Audrey Wierenga met in 1987 when Sanborn was pregnant. Along the way they have raised a son together and traveled to Canada to get married in 2003. Now they are waiting to see how the U.S. Supreme Court rules on the issue of same-sex marriage. That will determine if their marriage is recognized in Michigan. Sanborn and Wierenga will be part of a panel discussion on marriage equality on Sunday at the Unitarian and Universalist Church in Portage.

The Michigan Department of Transportation is launching a safety audit of I-94. MDOT Southwest Region spokesman Nick Schirripa explains how the audit will done between the Indiana state line and Jackson County. He says it will give state officials a full picture of the factors that contribute to safety along the highway.
