On WestSouthwest, a broadcast journalist comes to Kalamazoo this month to discuss what it means to be a descendent of Thomas Jefferson and slave Sally Hemmings. And we get the latest report on campaign fundraising and spending in Michigan.

Shannon LaNier speaks in Kalamazoo on February 27th. LaNier is the co-author of Jefferson's Children: The Story of One American Family. Earlene McMichael interviewed LaNier. He is the keynote speaker for the Kalamazoo Legacy Luncheon on February 27th. 

The campaign for Southwest Michigan's 6th Congressional District is the second most expensive race in the state so far in 2018. Two state Senate races in Southwest Michigan are also generating large amounts of money in donations. Michigan Campaign Finance Network Director Craig Mauger breaks down those races, fundraising for governor and ballot proposals. 

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
