On WestSouthwest, the Director of Kalamazoo's Public Services Department tells us about water quality in the wake of the water crisis in Flint. And a discussion of schools consolidation with two Western Michigan University Education Professors.

The water crisis in Flint has inspired many questions about the safety of water in other cities. The Director of the city of Kalamazoo's Public Services Department Sue Foune says water from the city of Kalamazoo is safe and tested frequently. Foune says while the city does have some lead lines carrying water, corrosion control chemicals are added to prevent contamination.

The Albion and Marshall School districts have started the process that could result in the Albion district being annexed by Marshall. Two professors from Western Michigan University's Department of Educational Leadership, Research and Technology join us to discuss school consolidation. Walter Burt and Joe Kretovics say merging two school districts is complex. They say the best way to proceed is being transparent and honest with students and parents from both districts.
