On WestSouthwest, we hear from three people who will be speaking in West Michigan for Monday's Martin Luther King Junior Holiday.

Jonathan Tremaine Thomas moved his family from Indianapolis to St. Louis in 2014 after what was supposed to be a short visit to Ferguson. He speaks on Sunday at Kalamazoo's Mount Zion Baptist Church.

April Reign's tweet about the Oscars started a conversation and reform efforts for the Academy Awards. The woman who kicked off the #OscarsSoWhite Campaign speaks Monday at Grand Valley State University. 

Mariame Kaba founded Project Nia in an effort to end juvenile incarceration. But she is working for comprehensive prison and police reform. Kaba speaks Monday morning at Kalamazoo College's Stetson Chapel. 

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
