On this edition of WestSouthwest, the long-time President of the Detroit Chapter of the NAACP, and Michigan's new U.S. Senator. 

Reverend Wendell Anthony is about to begin his 12th term leading Detroit's chapter of the NAACP. He will deliver the address at Monday morning's convocation at Kalamazoo College. It's part of a series of events at K-College, Western Michigan University and in the community to honor the life of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Junior. 

Gary Peters was sworn in last week as Michigan's newest United States Senator. He is the only Democrat in the current freshman class in the Senate. Peters tells us what he will focus on in the Senate. 

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
