On this edition of WestSouthwest, a Western Michigan University student's invention to help with speech impediments and we revisit last year's interview with a civil rights icon. 

WMU Marketing student Daniel Floyd grew up with a speech impediment. That inspired his invention of the SpeechMasterPro. Floyd was recently awarded a patent for the device that helps people with enunciation and articulation. 

Last year Julian Bond came to Albion College to speak for events on that campus to honor Martin Luther King Junior. Bond, a former student of King's, spoke with WMUK's Earlene McMichael shortly before the event in Albion. 

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
