On WestSouthwest, the state of the Presidential race in Michigan and elsewhere. And the Natural Resources Defense Council questions the fine levied against Enbridge for the Kalamazoo River oil spill and other violations.

With the Republican National Convention wrapped up in Cleveland and the Democrats about to being their convention in Philadelphia, we get an assessment of the state of the race for President. Western Michigan University Political Science Professors Peter Wielhouwer and John Clark discuss polls, strategy and more. 

Federal officials say fines against Enbridge as part of a settlement that includes the Kalamazoo River oil spill hold the company accountable. But the Natural Resources Defense Council says the fines should have been more for the largest inland oil spill in U.S. history. The NRDC's National Media Director Josh Mogerman explains why he doesn't think the fine will change the company's practices.
