How effective are the incentives that states use to lure businesses? We present a rebroadcast of an interview with the Upjohn Institute Economist trying to answer that question.

Tim Bartik says the incentives offered by states will "tip the balance" on a small percentage of business locations decisions. The senior economist at the Upjohn Institute for Employment Research developed a new databaseon how states use incentives to lure business. Bartik spoke with WMUK's Gordon Evans for an interview that originally aired in March.

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
