On WestSouthwest, the Kalamazoo Community Foundation makes plans for a grant to promote racial healing. And the director of the Western Michigan University Cooley Law School's Innocence Project. 

The W.K. Kellogg Foundation has awarded grants for its Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation Framework to four Michigan cities, including Kalamazoo and Battle Creek. Kalamazoo Community Foundation Community Investment Officer Lanna Lewis tells us about plans for the money in Kalamazoo. 

A Detroit man walked free in June after more than 41 years in prison. LeDura Watkins was convicted of first degree murder in 1976. The Western Michigan University Cooley Law School's Innocence Project helped Watkins win his freedom. Innocence Project Director Marla Mitchell-Cichon discusses Watkins' case and how the team works to win freedom for those wrongfully convicted. 

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
