On WestSouthwest, Democratic State Representative Jon Hoadley of Kalamazoo discusses the state budget, LGBT civil rights, redistricting and more. We answer a question from our audience about how Islam is practiced around the world.

State Representative Jon Hoadley wants the state to extend protections against discrimination to LGBT people. He says there are signs that politics on the issue are changing. The Kalamazoo Democrat also discusses the state budget, redistricting reform, term limits and his own political future.

We asked you a while back to submit questions about Islam. One submission dealt with different practices by Muslims in different parts of the World. Michigan State University Religious Studies Professor Mohammad Khalil explains the basic beliefs that most Muslims hold. He says there is plenty of diversity in belief and practice within Islam.
