We hear from two state House candidates on WestSouthwest. 

Kalamazoo County Commissioner Brandt Iden is running for state House in the 61st district, which includes Portage. He faces fellow county commissioner Phil Stinchcomb for his party's nomination. Current Representative Margaret O'Brien is running for state Senate.

Former Calhoun County Democratic Party Chairman Dave Morgan is seeking his party's nomination in the 62nd district, which includes Battle Creek. Battle Creek City Commissioner Andy Helmboldt and Calhoun County Commissioner Terris Todd are also running for the Democratic party nomination. Current Representative Kate Segal can't run for re-election because of term limits. 

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
