Craig Thiel says the act, which determines how money for roads is distributed in Michigan, is complex and inefficient. But Thiel says politically it's hard to change.
Jane Briggs-Bunting says Michigan's Freedom of Information Act needs to be improved. The founding president of the board for the Michigan Coalition for Open Government says bills in the state House to make the Legislature and the Governor and Lieutenant Governor's office subject to FOIA would be a good start. But Briggs-Bunting says those bills aren't likely to see action in the state Senate.
