On WestSouthwest the rare opportunity to study an earthquake in Michigan. And examining how Great Lakes issues fit into the 2016 Presidential campaign. 

Western Michigan University Geosciences Professor David Barnes tells us what can be learned from the earthquake earlier this month. He also explains why human activity such as hydraulic fracturing was almost certainly not to blame for the earthquake, which had its epicenter near Galesburg. 

Great Lakes Echo Commentator Gary Wilson says there has been a lot of political momentum for Great Lakes issues since 2008. But he warns that the 2016 Presidential election is likely to change that, regardless of the outcome.
