On WestSouthwest, progress on bicycling safety during a tragic year in Kalamazoo. Plus the Battle Creek City Commission considers moving city elections to even-numbered years. 

2016 will be remembered, for amongst other things, the driver who plowed into a group of bicyclists near Kalamazoo. Five people were killed and four more were seriously injured. Despite the tragedy, advocates say it was also a year that bicycle safety improved. Kalamazoo Bike Week begins on Saturday, Sehvilla Mann talks with Paul Welden and Paul Wells from the Kalamazoo Bicycle Club. 

Battle Creek City Commissioners are poised to move city elections to even-numbered years. Battle Creek Enquirer Government Reporter Jennifer Bowman explains what the change would mean. She also gives an update on a possible urban life stock ordinance in Battle Creek.
