On WestSouthwest, a new study on virtual schools and a discussion about the future of local news coverage. 

  

Western Michigan University Professor of Evaluation, Measurement and Research Gary Miron is the co-author of a new report on online schools. The study examines full time virtual schools, and "blended schools" which combine online and classroom learning. Miron says online education is the future, but the report calls for slowing the growth of such schools until performance can be improved. 

Intercom, made up of communication professionals in Kalamazoo, is hosting a panel discussion on Thursday on the future of local news coverage. The president of Intercom's board Gretchen Johnson and Columbia Journalism Review's Midwest Correspondent Anna Clark join us to discuss the challenges and opportunities for media outlets.
