Upjohn Institute for Employment Research Economist Brad Hershbein says while the unemployment rate has come back down since the end of the Great Recession, workers need more skills for those jobs . Hershbein is the co-author of a study on how the recession led to "upskilling" of many positions.
Kalamazoo Humane Society Director Aaron Winters says their efforts to spay and neuter pets in the Kalamazoo area has reduced shelter populations and euthanizations since 2002. Winters says plans for a new facility will help expand that program and others run by the Humane Society.
