WestSouthwest November 24, 2014

Bob Duke/Texas A&M Press

On WestSouthwest, a new book on Lyndon Johnson and one his closest allies in Congress. And the second round of open enrollment under the Federal Affordable Care Act.

Retired Eastern Michigan University Professor Bob Duke is the author of LBJ and Grassroots Federalism: Congressman Bob Poage, Race and Change in Texas.   He tells us why we should know more about Poage, who was a powerful member of Congress, but merits little mention in historical works about Johnson's Presidency or his time in the House and Senate.

Another round of open enrollment has started to sign up for insurance under the Affordable Care Act. The Michigan Director of Enroll America, Erin Knott, tells us what that means in Michigan.

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
