On WestSouthwest, the strain of military service on families. And former Western Michigan University quarterback Tim Hiller writes about football, faith and life. 

A panel discussion on military families is being held Monday at Western Michigan University. Retired Colonel Angela Pereira will be among those discussing the challenges of family life. She told WMUK's Andy Robins that relocations and regular deployments overseas can strain the fabric of a military family.

Tim Hiller set records in several categories during his time as Western Michigan University's quarterback. After he graduated in 2009, Hiller sought a spot in the NFL. He was signed by the Indianapolis Colts, but the career in pro football Hiller pursued never took off. He now works at Stryker and is a motivational speaker. Hiller's book Strive: Life is Short. Pursue What Matters tells stories from on and off the football field and how faith has helped him during tough times. 

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
