WestSouthwest October 13, 2016

Tom Arthur/Wikicommons

We continue our interviews with candidates for Congress and state Legislature on WestSouthwest. Democrat Jim Haadsma is the Democrat running in the state House district that includes Battle Creek. Libertarian Lorence Wenke is running for Congress in Southwest Michigan.

The 62nd state House district is one of a handful of races for the Legislature considered competitive this year. Calhoun County Commissioner Jim Haadsma is the Democrat challenging incumbent Republican John Bizon.

Lorence Wenke served as a county commissioner and state Representative, and held both of those offices as a Republican. Two years ago he ran for state Senate as a Libertarian. This year he's running for the 6th Congressional District seat currently held by Republican Fred Upton.
