On WestSouthwest, a look at what other states are doing in education. And former Republican, now Libertarian, state Senate Candidate Lorence Wenke. 

Bridge, the online news service of the Center for Michigan, examined what other states have done to drive up test scores. Senior Writer Ron French tells WMUK's Gordon Evans what they found, and what it could mean for Michigan.

Lorence Wenke served on the Kalamazoo County Commission and in the state House as a Republican. Now he's running for state Senate as a Libertarian. Wenke tells WMUK's Gordon Evans and Kalamazoo Gazette reporter Alex Mitchell what he wants to do in the Senate and why he switched parties. 

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
