On WestSouthwest, Western Michigan University Athletic Director Kathy Beauregard discusses Friday's season opening football game and issues facing college sports. And more information about our newest program Why's That?

Western Michigan University Athletic Director Kathy Beauregard says years of planning have gone into Friday night's home football game against Michigan State. The Broncos open the season against the Spartans Friday night at 7:00 in Waldo Stadium. Beauregard also discusses scheduling, finances and the safety of athletes with WMUK's Gordon Evans and Kalamazoo Gazette reporter David Drew.

WMUK is launching a new program this month. Listeners will submit questions about Southwest Michigan that we will try to answer in Why's That? WMUK's Sehvilla Mann tells about some of the questions that have come in, and how the audience can suggest other topics that we can explore.

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
