Al Jazeera America

On WestSouthwest we hear from a respected journalist and author and a 12 year old from Kalamazoo  protesting immigration.

Ray Suarez is the host of Inside Story for Al Jazeera America. He's a former host for NPR and PBS. Suarez was this year's commencement speaker for Kalamazoo College. He spoke with WMUK's Gordon Evans shortly before coming to Kalamazoo.

Esteban Verdugo was arrested earlier this month outside of House Speaker John Boehner's office. Verdugo was part of a group calling for a vote on immigration reform. He told WMUK's Gordon Evans why the issue is so important to him.

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
