Jim Hettinger will serve as chairman of Western Michigan University’s Board of Trustees for the next year.
The former head of economic development agency Battle Creek Unlimited was elected by his fellow trustees Wednesday. Hettinger says his experience in economic development will bring a new perspective to the board. Mary Asmonga Knapp will be vice chair. That post was held by Hettinger for the last year, he succeeds Jeanne Carlson who was board chairwoman for 2013.
