Western Michigan University Symphony Orchestra music director Bruce Uchimura voices his opinions on two very popular classical works: Richard Strauss's Don Juan, and Modest Mussorgsky's Pictures At An Exhibition, orchestrated by Maurice Ravel.
Uchimura explains his dual purpose in picking music for programs: he hopes to entertain the audience and at the same time guide the musicians, mostly undergraduates, through the major works in the classical repertoire to help prepare them for music careers.
The free concert is Sunday, February 8 at 3 pm in Miller Auditorium.
