The audience becomes the choir in the upcoming Summer Sing at WMU's Dalton Center Recital Hall, says Dr. Kim Adams, WMU director of choral activities. On Thursday, June 9, anyone who wants to participate can gather at 6:30 pm, rehearse a few spots at 7:00 pm, and give a full performance of Mozart's Requiem at 7:30 pm.
Hand-picked former and current WMU music students will join the volunteer singers for the Summer Sing, as well as accompanist Ahmed Anzaldua. According to Adams, Mozart's Requiem is a good pick for singers because the composer wrote beautifully for voice. In the interview with Cara Lieurance, she goes into detail about Mozart's last, unfinished composition. Adams also reveals the completion of a new recording, Ex Chorde, featuring the WMU Chorale. It will be available at the Summer Sing on June 9.
The Summer Sing will be repeated on July 27, with the Requiem by Gabriel Faure.
