WSW: Author Loreen Niewenhuis Continues to Explore the Great Lakes

Loreen Niewenhuis

Loreen Niewenhuis is a well-traveled scientist,  who has now written her third book on exploring the Great Lakes. This time she has taken readers to some of the islands in the five Great Lakes.

Niewenhuis tells WMUK's Zinta Aistars that this was the most challenging of her Great Lakes adventures because it included biking and kayaking along with hiking. The book is called A 1,000 Mile Great Lakes Island Adventure: One Woman's Epic Journey Exploring the Diverse Islands of the Five Great Lakes. A version of this interview first aired on WMUK's Between the Lines in May.

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
Zinta Aistars is our resident book expert. She started interviewing authors and artists for our Arts & More program in 2011.
