WSW: Borgess' First 125 Years

Borgess Health

Borgess Health turned to author and historian Larry Massie to chronicle its first 125 years.

In Health Care Anew: The First 125 Years of Borgess Health, Massie Tells the Story of how Kalamazoo’s first hospital was built. He spoke with WMUK’s Zinta Aistars about Borgess’ origins and how it has changed over the years. A segment of the interview originally aired on Between the Lines in May.

Massie's book includes many historical photos to illustrate the hospital’s story. He and his wife Priscilla immersed themselves in research to write the hospital’s history, which was published in March.

Gordon Evans became WMUK's Content Director in 2019 after more than 20 years as an anchor, host and reporter. A 1990 graduate of Michigan State, he began work at WMUK in 1996.
Zinta Aistars is our resident book expert. She started interviewing authors and artists for our Arts & More program in 2011.
