The second open enrollment under the Affordable Care Act is underway.

Enroll America Michigan Director Erin Knott says it's an opportunity for uninsured consumers and people who want to look for a better price or improve their health care coverage. Open enrollment runs through February 15th.

Knott says there are more providers this year on the health insurance exchange. She says that should lead to better options and perhaps lower prices.

The first open enrollment was marred by many problems with the government's website, Knott says improvements have been made. She says the website has also been improved to be more user friendly.

The fine for not having health insurance has increased this year, but Knott says for most people "piece of mind" is the main reason for searching for health insurance. She says there is financial assistance available for low-income people looking for health insurance.
