Building trust and providing good
service to our listeners, supporters and website patrons are important to all of
us at WMUK. We share your concerns for privacy, and we recognize our
responsibility to make sure information you provide us is not abused. Our
purpose in collecting information via telephone, mail, or internet is to
accurately track individual listener inquiries, concerns, contributions and
maintain relationships. We also gather general statistical information on use of
our website to monitor and improve the services we provide.
Mailing Lists and Donor
Information
WMUK's mailing lists are never
sold or shared with outside organizations or individuals. Our donor records are
stored and professionally managed at the WMU Foundation, which provides tax
receipts, payment processing, and donor accounting services for WMUK. The WMU
Foundation has an agreement with WMUK not to solicit any of our donors who are
otherwise unconnected to Western Michigan University. If you are an alumna,
alumnus, or have made donations to other WMU departments, you may receive
mailings as a result of other associations.
Website Security
This website has security measures
in place to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information
under our control. Contributions to WMUK can be made through a secure server
with SSL encryption. Our other technology practices are standard ones in use at
most professionally designed sites on the world wide web. We collect your IP
address to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our website, and
develop broad demographic profiles of our website users. We also use
"cookies" to provide website navigation assistance and deliver content
specific to your interests. (A "cookie" is merely a very short text
file that is placed in your web browser. It identifies your computer to our
website for service needs. It contains no personal information about you.)
Choosing to Opt-Out or Change
Information
You may choose to opt-out of
receiving mailings or other information from us. To do so, send an e-mail to admin@wmuk.org
with your specific requests. You may also change or modify information you
previously provided by e-mailing webmaster@wmuk.org.
